POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports pipe welders by preparing materials, holding and positioning pipes, and performing basic mechanical tasks to ensure smooth welding operations.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic knowledge of hand tools and pipefitting equipment
• Ability to read basic measurements and follow instructions
• Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy pipes and equipment
• Awareness of welding safety procedures (hot work, PPE usage)
• Willingness to learn pipe welding and fitting techniques

• Assist in lifting, holding, and positioning pipes for alignment before welding
• Clean, grind, and prepare pipe surfaces for welding
• Measure and cut pipes to required lengths using hand tools or cutting machines
• Apply markings or guides for welders to follow
• Support in fitting flanges, elbows, valves, and other pipe fittings
• Hold clamps, jigs, or supports during welding to maintain correct alignment
• Supply welders with tools, materials, and safety equipment as needed
• Clean work area, tools, and equipment after completion of tasks
• Follow safety guidelines for handling pipes, welding equipment, and hot work areas
