Senior Mechanical-HVAC Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Division of Ramboll.

Ramboll is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Binghamton, NY office. The selected candidate for this position will be expected to work across a wide range of mechanical engineering knowledge areas and have a desired focus area in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning related work. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline. The majority of the work will be related to heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); however, the candidate should also expect work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs)
  • Utilizing building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
  • Specifying mechanical equipment
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems
  • Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems. A mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips should be expected.
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems
  • Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred
  • Ability to foster a creative engineering environment
  • Strong communication skills, (both in written and verbal)
  • Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred
