Job title: Mechanical Inspector (CMM)
Location: Rochester
Salary: £32,500 – £37,000 depending on skills and experience

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential:

  • Experience with CMM machines and ability to read complex engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proficient with PC-DMIS software or similar software/systems
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Working with First Article Reporting methods to support QA engineers
  • Experience of manual and CNC of manual and CNC milling and turning and ability to be able to set, operate different machine tools.

The Development Machine Shop Team:
You will work with a small team within a development machine shop producing tight tolerance components to support in house engineering department during development and we are looking for a machinist with CNC and Manual experience who will machine products working closely with a broad range of stakeholders to produce the end product.
In this role you will have excellent opportunities to progress within the wider BAE organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Performing mechanical inspection using manual inspection tools (micrometres, vernier callipers etc) and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) on high precision production parts, prototype items, custom tooling and test fixtures on both third party and in house machined items
  • You will be required perform a range of inspect activities such as checking dimensions, part finishes, thread go, no-go testing using appropriate methods and tools and providing clear feedback on findings to allow effective correction actions to be put in place
  • In additional you may be required to perform first article inspection to ensure full compliance to drawing before commencement of full rate serial production
  • Depending on experience provide support to other CMM users within the business
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in line with company process and procedures including any SHE requirements
