Description SUMMARY The Mechanical Quality Inspector I use basic metrology equipment to verify that parts meet drawings and specifications. Responsibilities also include writing nonconformance reports, process transactions in the ERP system, and performing visual inspections. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Keep work area organized and clean Follows visual management rules Completes paper inspection records, electronic records, and other relevant process steps Basic understanding of relevant QMS documents Able to read mechanical drawings to determine nominal dimensions and tolerances Able to accurately use the following inspection equipment: caliper, standard tolerance, and tight tolerance (Deltronic) gauge pin, thread gage, and angle gage Evaluate cosmetic flaws and accurately to determine conformance of parts Can write basic nonconforming reports. Consults higher level inspectors before finalizing the report Laser micrometer for tight tolerance pin calibration Operate Keyence Optical system Requirements REQUIRED HS Diploma or equivalent Technical background or aptitude 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment DESIRED Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred Some knowledge of GD&T drawing callouts (know the symbols and what they mean Can operate one type of automated test equipment (Mitutoyo CMM, Zeiss CMM, or Amada Fabrivision) Able to accurately use the profilometer Able to accurately use a drop gage Be open to constructive feedback from senior inspectors and leaders
