v Overall Job Description
Mechanical inspectors are usually required to have a diploma / bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and relevant work experience. Mechanical inspectors have usually studied HVAC technologies, exhaust, duct and fuel supply systems, general construction and project management, computers, and blueprint reading. Mechanical inspectors also complete on-the-job training, like learning relevant building codes and procedural steps.
Mechanical inspectors need to be detail-oriented to make sure that installed systems meet specific code requirements exactly. They also need to be physically fit and mentally aware, since some investigations will mean heading into active construction sites, which could be physically hazardous.
v Duties & responsibilities
· Reads and interprets materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals, and blueprints, to determine inspection and test procedures.
· Analyzes and interprets sample data.
· Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results,
· Recommends corrective procedures, and compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
· Cleans and maintains test equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning.
· Tests and measures finished products, components, or assemblies for functioning, operation, accuracy, or assembly to verify adherence to functional specifications.
· Inspects materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications, and adjusts process or assembly equipment to meet standards.
· Starts and operates finished products for testing or inspection.
· Reads dials and meters to ensure that equipment is operating according to specifications.
· Collects samples for testing, and computes findings.
· Marks items for acceptance or rejection, records test results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
· Discards or rejects products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
· Executes the specific inspections on materials, equipment and construction/installation activities on site.
· Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, writes and sends to QC Supervisor non-conformances reports.
· Controls equipment installation, alignment and levelling
· Performs functional checks and mechanical completion checks (Pressure and atmospheric vessel)
· Trays inspection (dimensional check, water tightness test).
· Checks of levelness, position, orientation, anchor bolts, conduits, etc. of tanks foundation
· Performs hydrostatic test of tank and measurement of pad settlement.
· Storages tank internal inspection. 9. Performs punch-listing operations.
· Verify special processes and the relevant workers’ qualifications.
· Witness the tests, controls and inspections, guarantee inspection status control for parts of the plant within his area of responsibility, authorizing their acceptance at quality control completion, obtain the relevant documentation and ensure the correct implementation of the approved Inspection Test Plan according to Client’s requirements.
