About the role Techno is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join our team on a major water infrastructure project in the Washington, DC area. This role will support the construction and inspection of water pumping and mechanical systems, ensuring all installations meet design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. What you'll do Conduct daily inspections of mechanical systems, with a focus on water pumps, piping, HVAC, and associated equipment. Monitor contractor activities in the field to ensure compliance with design documents, technical specifications, codes, and regulatory standards. Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve field issues efficiently. Review and verify installation methods, operational performance, and overall functionality of mechanical systems. Maintain detailed inspection records, document non-conformances, and provide clear progress reports to project leadership. Support commissioning activities and provide input on mechanical system testing, startup, and operational readiness. Promote adherence to safety standards and practices, ensuring a safe work environment for all project personnel. Qualifications Proven experience inspecting mechanical systems on water infrastructure or similar civil/MEP construction projects. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, piping, HVAC, and general construction practices. Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, technical specifications, and project documents. Experience with municipal water projects or pumping facilities preferred. Familiarity with field inspection procedures, quality assurance processes, and reporting requirements. OSHA safety training or other relevant certifications highly desirable. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
