Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Job Summary
This position exists to provide engineering expertise to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and increase operating profit. The maintenance engineer increases productivity, reliability, and lowers costs. This is accomplished by analyzing high cost and failure assets and working with operations and maintenance to develop improvements in procedures or design improvements. This person will also sustain a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulations and Company requirements.

Responsibilities/ Duties

  • Preparation of daily maintenance and production status reports.
  • Work overtime when required to meet schedule and minimize unit and equipment outages.
  • Analyze / Trouble Shooting daily production, quality, and equipment failures to increase reliability.
  • Maintain historical equipment files and provide technical assistance to the production group.
  • Revise PM cycles & PDM frequencies according to abnormal equipment analysis or PM schedules.
  • Set up spare parts application (SSA) for B-1 projects and new equipment.
  • Ensure materials and or services are paid in a timely manner and correctly processed.
  • Prepare annual mechanical maintenance budgets and formulate maintenance goals and objectives.
  • Participate in incident investigations as needed.
  • Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup, and disposal.
  • Maintain equipment in such a manner as to eliminate environmental emissions, upsets, or unscheduled shutdowns, which will result in zero non-conformances and zero emissions or releases.
  • Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices, including the use of proper PPE in required areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • No prior experience is required, but 1- 2 years of experience in project and equipment management is preferred. Project management and equipment knowledge experience is a plus.
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering; other related engineering degree considered.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of basic of Heat Transfer, Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Statics and Dynamics, Engineering Economics.
  • Personal Computer Skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good business writing ability.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance as well as the ability to work outside the regular schedule as required, including working overtime for time-sensitive projects.
  • Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and customer service; behave professionally; treat others with respect and dignity.
  • Handle and manage the stress associated with the position, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
  • Physical requirements include duties common to a regular office environment.
  • Travel to off-site locations or other business functions as needed [requirement to travel means having a valid driver’s license and being prepared to drive a motor vehicle and to fly with overnight stays required.
