As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer at Sodexo Queens Hospital in Romford you will be the go-to person, the one with the answers to everyone’s questions, and the one who knows how to keep the site facilities operating smoothly and in working order. You will be the facilities support specialist who will provide advice and support for the maintenance of equipment and utility services across the Hospital. This is a busy hospital environment open every day 365 days per year, so flexibility is essential. Your attention details and pride in craftmanship will positively impact those around you and make a welcoming difference in their environment.
In this pivotal role, you will ensure the safe operation and maintenance of essential plant and equipment. Working within the constraints of a PFI contract, you will deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM), statutory, routine, and reactive work while adhering to Sodexo’s and NHS Trust’s high safety and compliance standards.
Successful candidates will need to have relevant qualifications together with consistent experience in a similar environment. You will be required to act on your own initiative; there is a need for accuracy, attention to detail, numeracy and record keeping whilst leading from the front with regards to the mechanical team. Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Safely operate and maintain mechanical systems and equipment, including boilers, ventilation, air conditioning, and associated control systems.
  • Conduct fault finding, repairs, and risk assessments while maintaining records through Sodexo’s CAFM system.
  • Collaborate with contractors, the in-house team, and clinical staff to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for 24/7 emergency cover.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting inter-trade tasks and providing expertise on systems such as water, ventilation, medical gases, and decontamination.
  • Promote and maintain best practices in health, safety, and compliance with all relevant legislation.
