The main responsibilities of the job is to repair and maintain a variety of Sheet Metal Working machine tools. This includes undertaking a range of hydraulic and mechanical work required necessary to identify faults and repair issues in line with best practice and current H&S requirements. This is to ensure the works plant and equipment is maintained to the required standard to maximise availability, reliability and efficiency and to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees. You will be required to work in a safe, organised, tidy and efficient manner.

KEY FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Essential Skills

  • City and Guilds or NVQ qualification in relevant maintenance subject
  • Mechanical fitter, experienced hydraulic, pneumatics, PLC, sensors and control systems Time served apprentice as a maintenance fitter in an industrial environment
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a maintenance environment. Self Motivated able to work under there own initiative
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to make timely decisions under pressure
  • Excellent problem solving with attention to detail and thought process techniques

Desirable Skills

  • Certificate in line supervision or team leading
  • Proven track record in maintenance supervision and planning
  • Working with 5’s and lean principles
  • Implementing high standards of H&S principles and controls.
  • Use of COSHH sheets (material safety data sheets)Excellent planning and co-ordination skills
  • Good coaching skills
  • Ability to use Auto CAD
  • Experience of H&S control systems and reporting
  • Computer literate

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Responsibilities
  • To maintain and repair all production machines in line with production priority
  • Work effectively in performing maintenance tasks to ensure the minimum downtime of production machinery
  • To record all maintenance activity as prescribed by the Ancon management system
  • Install new equipment as and when appropriate.
  • To perform other tasks to maintain the fabric of the building, fixtures and fittings, support equipment and install such things as barriers and racking as required.
  • Identify and source spares and necessary equipment to perform the above tasks
  • Abide by site H&S policies and procedures, with special consideration for safe systems of work and practices.
  • Implement all safe working procedures, practices, rules, regulations and instructions given by management.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained within your dept and across the site.
  • Shut down equipment deemed to be in an unsafe condition, repairs so safety issues are given priority.
  • Report any incident including near misses, unsafe working practise or situations immediately to the production supervisor or site manager.
  • Conduct/co-operate in safety audits, risk assessments and safety tours.
  • Only operate machinery for which you are competent to use or have received the appropriate training or hold appropriate current licence.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and/or practices.
  • Where you possess the relevant skills and knowledge, or following suitable training, be flexible enough to perform any other reasonable duties in order to support the business.
