Overview Celanese are currently recruiting a Mechanical Technician to join us here at the Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) plant in Newport, South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced and varied manufacturing environment where we take pride in delivering flawless performance. You will provide business administration support at one of Europe’s premier Thermoplastic Vulcanisate plants, which provides raw materials to the global automotive industry. You will join our multi-disciplined team working on various pieces of mechanical equipment in an engineering environment. You will play a key role in ensuring maintenance, modifications and unplanned breakdowns are resolved in a safe and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, an enthusiastic drive for problem-solving and logic reasoning, a good understanding and knowledge of modern machine equipment. Responsibilities Activities include, but are not limited to: Assisting with routine functioning of equipment, working with stakeholders and other disciplines to complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner. Carrying out planned routine maintenance on a variety of equipment adhering to schedules and procedures. Involvement with Root Cause Analysis ensuring plant equipment are maintained in the correct manner learning from losses creating a more productive and reliable equipment. Problem solving and troubleshooting on a variety of process systems. Improvement Design: Lead small projects and initiatives of mechanical equipment from concept to installation, ensuring functionality, efficiency, reliability, and safety. Improvement Ideas: To meaningfully contribute to and support continuous improvements of manufacturing processes, equipment, work methods and activities. Good collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills. Work with external contractors and where appropriate for plant work/upgrades and refurbishment work and where necessary manage contractor activity on site. Qualifications Full apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience using safety related systems (Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, Management of change). Experience of SAP Plant Maintenance, would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
The technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, resolving unplanned breakdowns, and conducting root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability. They will also lead small mechanical improvement projects and manage external contractors for plant upgrades.
