ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

  • Work as key member of the Mechanical discipline team
  • Interface with AIP Commissioning and operations team to ensure clear guidance and clarifications are provided with regards to scope of work and specifically for Mechanical MC and punches close out.
  • Monitoring and Working with Vendors, JV ATS, Project procurement expeditor and package responsible engineers to ensure the Mechanical packages MC.
  • Ensure proper working practice of Mechanical packages/equipment new installation and alignment/levelling in terms of Vendor requirement and Mechanical completion requirement.
  • Work with MC team to ensure all Mechanical equipment are properly scoped in pims for MC close out
  • Work with AIP operations team to assist Contractor to arrange for required condition assessment inspections by contractor and / or OEM.
  • Work with AIP Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to ensure that required compliance and verification activities in areas of mechanical discipline are defined and executed as required.
  • Review and comment on mechanical discipline documents as prepared by Contractor/vendors.
  • Comment on the Mechanical design documents including arrangement on operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability to meet requirements in laws, regulations, class, flag, and contract.
  • Monitor and review Contractor’s Mechanical activities and deliverables to ensure compliance with all regulatory and contract requirements. Ensure compatibility and functionality of existing and new vessel systems and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings and inspections as required, including FAT, worldwide.
  • Coordinate Lessons Learned input to AIP Project Management Team.
  • Close assigned Technical Query (TQ) and other Action Tracker items in PIMS or formal MOM.
  • Liaison and monitor daily construction activities with subcontractors/vendor at shipyard.
  • Other roles (and role descriptions) as and when required.
  • Collaborate closely with other key disciplines in the Project Management Team. Call off assistance from discipline resources within area of responsibility as needed to keep quality and progress.
  • Ensure good cooperation, communication and alignment between the base organization and the project.
  • Liaison and monitor daily construction activities with subcontractors/vendor at shipyard.
  • Other roles (and role descriptions) as and when required.
  • Responsible for assigned mechanical packages during construction and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure that relevant activities within the assigned mechanical packages discipline are within the company framework and in conformance with contract requirements, Project Execution Plan, and relevant laws and regulations. The health and safety of personnel, natural and working environment and equipment shall be taken care of.
  • Report to the Construction Manager/Mechanical Lead on any delays in progress under his/her area of responsibility.
  • Documents any changes to scope of work and report to Construction Manager/ Mechanical Lead
  • Report to the Construction Manager/Mechanical Lead on any failure of design or gap between the delivered solution and the contract requirement, and ensure corrective actions are implemented

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical education on bachelor level or higher within Mechanical Engineering, long experience and compensate for lack of education
  • Recent experience of major mechanical and rotating equipment packages
  • Recent experience of handling Hull equipment packages
  • Experience in mechanical equipment design and operations
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience within Mechanical package engineering discipline and experience of at least two recent projects as Mechanical discipline engineer
  • Strong leadership & interpersonal skills applied to a multidisciplined project team.
  • Recent relevant experience in middle east / southeast Asian shipyards is an advantage.

  • English – fluent written and verbal skills
