MECHANICAL PIPE FITTER

Our client are a leading industrial services company specialising in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumping equipment across various industries. With a commitment to excellence and a nationwide presence, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field based Mechanical Pipe Fitter to join our team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical fitting and pipe fitting, preferably in industrial settings
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Strong knowledge of pumping systems, including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
  • Expertise in pipe fitting techniques, including measuring, cutting, threading, and welding
  • Familiarity with various piping materials and their applications
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment related to pipe fitting and mechanical work
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in challenging situations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair pumping equipment, including centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and associated piping systems
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine project requirements and develop installation plans
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of equipment
  • Perform pipe fitting tasks, including measuring, cutting, threading, and welding pipes to precise specifications
  • Install and align pumps, motors, and other mechanical components according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pumping systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on pumping equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  • Prepare detailed reports on installation, maintenance, and repair activities, including recommendations for system improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and other technicians, to ensure successful project completion
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety in the workplace
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in pumping systems and pipe fitting
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and materials required for job sites
  • Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-call support as needed
