Actemium Design, part of VINCI Energies, is looking for skilled Mechanical Piping / Plant 3D Designers and Engineers, to join our high-performing design offices. If you thrive on the challenges of mechanical piping layout, plant 3D modelling, and multidisciplinary engineering for regulated industry projects, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES IN MECHANICAL PIPING AND PLANT 3D ENGINEERING

  • Develop and produce high-quality piping and plant layout designs, including 3D models, detailed drawings, technical calculations, and design documentation.
  • Utilise 3D Plant Design software (such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, or PDMS/E3D) to create accurate, coordinated plant and piping arrangements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, EC&I, structural, and project management) to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Interpret, apply, and ensure compliance with all relevant mechanical and piping standards, codes, and statutory regulations.
  • Undertake and review pipe stress analysis, equipment interface checks, and constructability assessments.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments to develop safe, practical piping layouts and plant designs.
  • Take part in site and plant surveys, liaise with suppliers and clients, and provide technical support through all project stages.
  • Mentor and share expertise with junior designers and engineers, and help foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE FOR MECHANICAL PIPING / PLANT 3D DESIGN ROLES

  • Qualification in mechanical engineering or piping design (Degree, HNC, HND or proven equivalent experience).
  • Track record of delivering mechanical piping and plant layout designs—ideally within regulated sectors such as nuclear, process, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
  • Proficiency using 3D Plant Design and CAD modelling software (e.g. AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, Aveva E3D, or PDMS).
  • Good working knowledge of piping systems, pressure equipment, and plant design best practices.
  • Understanding of relevant UK/international piping standards and statutory requirements.
  • Strong communication skills—able to explain technical issues clearly to colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
  • Attention to detail, with analytical thinking and a proactive attitude towards process improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to client/project sites, as required.
