Description

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Plant Service Engineer to join a well-established client servicing sites around Reading, Oxford, Swindon, and surrounding areas.
You’ll be responsible for performing both planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of heavy plant and construction equipment — including volumetric concrete mixers (mobile and stationary), batching plants, concrete pumps, cement silos, conveyors, hydraulic systems, electrical controls, and associated diagnostic/calibration systems.
The role will also involve refurbishment and upgrade work to extend equipment life and enhance performance. Occasional overnight stays (around 2–3 per month) are required, with all expenses fully covered.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proven experience with plant, construction, heavy, or agricultural machinery
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and related components
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and calibrate machinery independently
  • MIG welding skills (advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site service, maintenance, and repair of heavy plant and construction machinery
  • Diagnose mechanical faults including hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools
  • Carry out regular inspections, calibrations, and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Refurbish and upgrade older machines, including mixer rebuilds and plant overhauls
  • Calibrate volumetric mixers and batching systems for accurate material output
  • Complete job records and produce detailed service reports
  • Provide customers with clear technical support and advice
  • Work safely and in compliance with all health & safety standards
  • Be flexible with travel and clients’ needs
