JOB OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to oversee the installation, maintenance, and operational performance of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) / NG pipelines. The Mechanical Project Engineer will play a critical role in managing the entire lifecycle of the pipeline installation project, from design and planning to execution and handover. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on pipeline systems, project management, and safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on pipeline installation or oil & gas projects.
  • Proven experience in project management, including overseeing large-scale mechanical installations, particularly in the LPG or energy sector.
  • Hands-on experience with pressure systems, valves, pumps, and pipeline mechanical components.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, pipeline codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.), and relevant industry regulations.
  • Expertise in project management and execution, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Proficiency with engineering software for design and simulation (AutoCAD, CAESAR II, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Certifications (Preferred but not required):
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Certification in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) analysis or other safety management programs.
  • Training in industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Lead the planning and scheduling of mechanical activities in the LPG/NG pipeline installation process.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (civil, electrical, instrumentation, and contractors) to ensure project milestones and objectives are met.
  • Develop and manage the project’s mechanical scope, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Engineering and Design Oversight:
  • Review and approve mechanical designs and technical specifications for LPG/NG pipeline systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team to ensure designs are optimized for efficiency, safety, and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Ensure that designs align with regulatory codes, including ASME, API, and local safety standards.
  • Execution and Supervision:
  • Oversee the mechanical installation of LPG pipelines, ensuring it is carried out according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Supervise on-site mechanical teams and contractors, ensuring proper installation of mechanical systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on-site and provide immediate solutions to prevent delays.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes for mechanical systems and pipeline installations.
  • Monitor compliance with project standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols during all phases of installation.
  • Perform or supervise the execution of tests, including pressure testing, leak testing, and system inspections.
  • Project Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for the project, including design changes, installation reports, test results, and final commissioning.
  • Prepare regular project progress reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and risks.
  • Ensure that as-built drawings and technical documentation are completed and updated as needed.
  • Safety and Risk Management:
  • Develop and implement safety plans and ensure adherence to safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct risk assessments and proactively address any mechanical, safety, or operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations specific to the handling and transportation of LPG.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting:
  • Monitor project costs related to mechanical works and ensure that they stay within budget.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
  • Approve purchase orders and review mechanical equipment and material costs as needed.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering matters on the project.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and field personnel.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the project is executed on time and within scope.
