REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • P.E. license is required. Significant knowledge of and proven experience with NYC building codes and industry mechanical codes is mandatory.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with REVIT a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain client relationships, effectively manage projects, and supervise/mentor junior staff.
  • Proficient in preparation and review of manual and software assisted calculations.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We have an opportunity for a licensed mechanical/HVAC project engineer with experience in building renovation and design projects. This individual will be responsible for managing and executing mechanical engineering projects for commercial and residential buildings of varying sizes and complexities. The candidate should be experienced in the evaluation, design, and construction of a broad range of heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, including but not limited to steam and hot water heating plants chilled water or refrigerant based cooling plants, refrigerant based air conditioning, ventilation, air distribution ducting, piping, and automated controls. The candidate should have strong knowledge of the integration with electrical and fire alarm systems with mechanical systems and should also be well versed in building code analysis and interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform the required mechanical calculations, designs, and equipment selections for a broad range of project types.
  • Work cohesively with our in-house multidisciplinary team of professionals, which includes: structural engineers, architects, HVAC engineers, electrical engineers, plumbing/fire protection engineers, and site civil engineers, on projects of widely varying sizes and complexities.
  • Collaborate with senior staff for review, direction and approval of design during development.
  • Participate in the analysis, evaluation, design and specification of mechanical/HVAC systems. Attend project meetings as required.
  • Develop design/renovation drawings.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, reports, and specifications.
  • Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.
  • Support in the development of scope and fee proposals.
  • Support in the management of project budgets, scheduling, and staffing.
