Job Description Turner & Townsend seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to support the construction of a large-scale Oi & Gas Refinery Upgrade. The ideal Project Manager will be driven to provide our clients with excellent service. *This is 4x a week onsite Project Manager role in Richmond, California Responsibilities: Manage stakeholders including architects, engineers, and supply chain to deliver compliant projects. Can analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip. Verify that effective project governance, processes and systems are utilized Ensure application of best practice on all projects Production of formal project status reports and other reports as required Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure that the approved design standards are being applied correctly Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications Forecast and update key project milestones Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders Rapid response to RFIs from the field Provide expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance where required Independent review of status reports, drawing submittals, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers Client management – assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients, with a view towards maximizing new opportunities Strategic Thinking - provide advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients’ objectives and business objectives Knowledge management – ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured Process improvement – Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure quality and safety standards. Review and approve mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for project execution. Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing clear project updates and managing expectations. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout all project phases. Support operational teams during the transition from commissioning to production. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or process-related issues during installation and commissioning. Manage change control and maintain accurate project documentation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Ideally 4 years of field experience in MEP construction accepted in lieu of degree. 5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on mechanical systems in Industrial or Refinery Facilities. Proven experience commissioning complex mechanical systems and equipment. Strong understanding of health and safety practices in an industrial environment. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong focus on deadlines and budget constraints. Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). PMP or equivalent certification (preferred).
