To ensure a viable, efficient, and reliable energy future for all Job Description Mechanical Responsible Engineer Warrington Perm or Contract (Inside IR35) Mechanical Responsible Engineer (RE) ⚙️ The RE holds full technical accountability for mechanical & ventilation engineering within their area, ensuring all work is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose across the project lifecycle 🔍. Working to R2A2 (ED21), you’ll provide technical leadership, governance, and assurance, while retaining responsibility for key engineering decisions—even when delegated 👷‍♂️. Key Responsibilities & Experience: Strong mechanical engineering background in regulated, safety-critical environments ⚠️ Proven technical accountability & decision-making experience ✅ Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and safety requirements 📜 Establish governance, assurance & verification processes 🧩 Lead multi-disciplinary teams & resolve complex technical issues 🤝 Manage technical risks effectively ⚡ Interface with project teams, regulators & assurance bodies 🏢 Promote a strong safety, quality & compliance culture 🛡️ Qualifications Essential Qualifications 🎓 Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline ⚙️ Extensive experience aligned to a Responsible Engineer role 🏗️ Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) with a recognised institution 👨‍🔧 Able to meet security clearance & site access requirements 🔐 Key Experience 💼 Experience as a Responsible Engineer or technical authority in nuclear/high-hazard environments ☢️ Safety case development, substantiation & regulatory engagement 📊 Full lifecycle delivery: concept → commissioning & handover 🔄 Managing deviations, concessions & non-conformances ⚠️ Strong understanding of governance, assurance & gated processes 🧩 Contribution to strategic decision-making & continuous improvement 📈 Specialist Knowledge ⭐ SQEP in high-integrity piping design (incl. seismic & safety case) 🔩 Machinery Directive & machinery design expertise ⚙️ UKCA marking for new facilities 🇬🇧 Familiarity with SEMs, Design Capability CoE & organisational structures 🏢 SQEP aligned with SR0699 & ED21 standards 🎯 Additional Information Whilst we encourage applications from all nationalities, Assystem within the UK are subject to security and export control restrictions due to the nature of work to be undertaken.
