Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor – Pipefitter Position Summary The Mechanical Supervisor – Pipefitter is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing all mechanical and pipefitting activities on assigned projects. This role ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, in compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and company policies. The supervisor will manage crews, monitor productivity, maintain schedules, and ensure all safety and quality requirements are met. — Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership & Supervision Lead and supervise a team of pipefitters, apprentices, and other mechanical trade workers. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed on time and within budget. Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback to crew members. 2. Project Coordination Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs to plan and execute work. Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials required for each phase of the project. Work closely with project managers, planners, and other supervisors to align schedules and resolve conflicts. 3. Safety & Compliance Enforce safety procedures, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with OH&S regulations. Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks. Ensure all crew members have and use the correct PPE and follow safe work practices. 4. Quality Control Inspect pipefitting work to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements. Ensure proper fit-up, alignment, and welding preparation is achieved. Work with QA/QC teams to complete necessary inspections and documentation. 5. Technical Expertise Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems, supports, and associated mechanical components. Ensure correct material handling, cutting, threading, bending, and welding preparation techniques are followed. Troubleshoot installation and alignment issues and implement solutions. 6. Documentation & Reporting Maintain daily progress reports, timesheets, and material usage records. Report manpower needs, productivity rates, and any project issues to management. Support change order documentation when scope changes occur. — Qualifications & Experience Education & Certification: Journeyperson Pipefitter/Steamfitter or equivalent trade certification. Supervisory/Leadership training is considered an asset. Current safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection). Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in industrial pipefitting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of piping codes (ASME, CSA, etc.) and industry best practices. Proven ability to lead teams in high-paced industrial construction or maintenance environments. Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills for interaction with crew, management, and clients. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. — Work Conditions Industrial, construction, or maintenance site environment. May require working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions. Extended hours, night shifts, or weekend work may be required based on project demands.
