This role supports the development of advanced micro-mechanical and macro-automation systems for photonics and semiconductor test equipment. You will collaborate globally, reporting to the SiPh Engineering Manager in North Reading, MA, USA.   In this role, you will design and develop precision mechanical systems that enable high-performance optical and semiconductor testing. Your work will directly support the rapid growth of AI and integrated photonics technologies.   Design micro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD tools such as NX, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks Develop micro-actuation hardware for photonic integrated circuit (PIC) optical connections, including fiber-to-chip and connector-to-receptacle interfaces Engineer macro-automation solutions for integrated circuit (IC) handling from JEDEC trays Model and characterize complex mechanical systems using FEA tools such as COMSOL or Ansys (preferred) Use structural analysis and CAD tools to architect new modules and evaluate performance and limitations Define and implement critical metrics and specifications aligned with product requirements and characterization methods Influence product-level decisions through simulation, prototyping, and lab-based validation Build custom unit tests and metrology hardware; perform hands-on measurements in the lab Collaborate with suppliers to develop actuation modules, bring up test platforms, and conduct statistical analysis of performance and quality Travel to supplier sites to support engineering builds and assist in failure analysis activities   All About YouWe seek individuals who share our passion and determination. If you’re ready to join us in this mission, take a closer look at the minimum criteria for the position.   Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree is a plus 5+ years of experience in designing and manufacturing complex micro-mechanical systems Proficiency in SolidWorks, NX, or AutoCAD for 3D modeling and drawing creation Experience with FEA tools such as COMSOL, Ansys, or SolidWorks Simulation Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., TeamCenter, WindChill) and CAD data management tools (e.g., SolidWorks EPDM) Hands-on laboratory experience building equipment and performing testing and validation Experience in traditional manufacturing and machining methods Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)   #LI-MK1
