Description
Mechanical Systems Instructor We are seeking a knowledgeable, passionate and experienced HVAC and Plumbing Instructor to join our team. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems. The ideal candidate will have both field experience and a passion for teaching students practical, real-world skills that meet current industry standards and codes. Responsibilities: Instruct students in core HVAC and plumbing topics, including system design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Teach the safe use of tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in the HVAC and plumbing trades. Develop and implement lesson plans and hands-on training activities that align with curriculum objectives. Incorporate applicable codes (e.g., International Plumbing Code, Mechanical Code, EPA standards) into classroom and lab instruction.) Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and evaluations. Ensure lab safety, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance. Stay up to date with current industry practices, certifications, and code changes. Qualifications: Associate degree or higher in HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical Systems, or a related field (required). Current HVAC and/or Plumbing License (required). EPA Section 608 Certification (required for HVAC instruction). Teaching credential, NCCER certification, or equivalent (preferred). Minimum of 5 years of verifiable work experience in HVAC and/or plumbing fields. Prior teaching or training experience (preferred but not required). Ability to travel locally 90% Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with trades instruction. Bilingual English/Español preferred Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, ductwork, HVAC components, and plumbing code compliance. Ability to convey technical information clearly to students of varying skill levels. Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Competence with instructional technology and tools (e.g., PowerPoint, LMS, simulations).
