We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in piping, tank, and vessel design to join our team and contribute to exciting and challenging projects.
Position: Mechanical (Tank/Piping) Engineer - P.Eng.
The Mechanical Engineer will play a vital role in designing, analyzing, and executing industrial projects, with a focus on piping systems, aboveground storage tanks, and pressure vessels in compliance with industry standards (e.g., API 650, ASME). The role will also include estimating responsibilities, compiling and evaluating proposals, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of piping systems, aboveground storage tanks, and pressure vessels in compliance with API 650, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31 and other relevant codes and standards.
- Perform engineering calculations to ensure safety, durability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
- Provide technical input during project planning, execution, and close-out phases.
- Develop detailed design drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Support tank and vessel inspections in accordance with API 653 and other relevant standards, identifying and documenting necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Compile and evaluate proposals as part of the estimating process, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of internal engineering standards, procedures, and tools to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, drawings, and technical documentation for client review and approval.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta (or eligible for registration).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping, tank, and pressure vessel design, including familiarity with API 650 and ASME Section VIII standards.
- Experience in the design of new tanks and the maintenance of existing aboveground steel storage tanks.
- Proven experience with estimating, including compiling and evaluating proposals.
- Experience with drafting using AutoCAD (asset).
- Knowledge of tank and vessel inspection procedures and standards (API 653).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to industrial projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software for design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for structural and stress analysis of tanks, vessels, and piping systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory codes, including ASME, API, and other industry standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- Successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
