    With a bright future ahead, we are seeking team members for our exciting Balranald operation where we will be deploying a new mining technology. Using remotely operated, novel underground mining (UGM) systems to extract key critical minerals.
    The technology we have developed is based on Maxi HDD rig platforms and offers a unique professional experience for competent and adaptable HDD professionals.
    About the location
    Iluka’s Balranald operation is located just outside of Balranald township in regional south-western NSW.
    You can choose to reside locally, drive-in drive-out from towns within the regional area, or fly-in fly-out from Melbourne.
    For South Australian residents we will mobilise you via road transport from our Iluka office in Adelaide.
    About the role
    We have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Maintenance team at our Balranald operation.
    Reporting into the Maintenance Coordinator, you will provide support to one of 4 x Extraction teams which cover our 24/7 operations.
    You will get exposure in deploying these platforms in conjunction with a technology not operated anywhere else. Thorough training will be delivered for our custom designed HK550 HDD rigs.
    As Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the day to day repairs and maintenance of the drill rigs and support equipment as well as troubleshooting/working through mechanical breakdowns as they occur. You will primarily undertake hydraulic and mechanical repairs on the drill rigs and associated surface infrastructure. You will also be responsible, in collaboration with the Supply Operators (field) in ensuring the maintenance and function of the mining and drill pipe along with associated fittings.

About you

  • Trade Qualified Diesel Fitter/ Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/ Plant Mechanic /Fixed Plant Mechanic
  • Experience with maintenance, diagnostic, commissioning and troubleshooting of Heavy Plant
  • Experience working with Hydraulics
  • Experience in HDD or mining maintenance industry
  • Current driver’s licence
  • HR or HC license desirable
  • Preferred High Risk Work tickets; Forklift, Loader, Dogging & Rigging, Vehicle Loading Crane (Fassi Crane)
