REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Five years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Tool Dresser.
• Oilfield downhole tools.
• Ideally has hydrostatic and gas testing experience.

THE ROLE:

As part of our ongoing growth, we are actively recruiting a Mechanical Technician to join our Mechanical Production team, dealing with all mechanical aspects of Metrol’s equipment and systems.

MAIN DUTIES:

• Undertake build, repair, and maintenance of downhole mechanical assemblies.
• Perform test build of new equipment; perform prototype testing.
• Be competent to work on mechanical equipment and systems in the downhole sector of the oil industry.
• Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time and quality.
• Be able to carry out surveys and pre-fit examinations of equipment.
• Advise on ordering of equipment for new tools and development work.
• Carry out function and pressure testing. Carry out gas testing.
• Participate in design reviews.
• Support internal customers on technical queries.
• Maintain build files & related documentation.
• Support operations by working at client sites (onshore and offshore).
• Be competent to use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role of a mechanical fitter.
