There are a variety of positions at our parks and lodges that range from skilled technicians to skilled trades.
We’re hiring a year-round Mechanical Technician (Old Faithful area) to Live. Work. Explore. in Yellowstone!

JOB SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Technician resides in the Old Faithful area in company-provided housing (for a nominal fee). Access to and from the Old Faithful location during the winter season is limited to snowcoach or snowmobile. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and employing the technical skills for the safe operation, repair, maintenance and seasonal opening/closing of Xanterra facilities, equipment and assets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with the applicable respiratory protection program regulations.
  • May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces.
  • Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting and provide the technical skills necessary for the safe operation, repair, maintenance, and seasonal opening/closing of Xanterra facilities, equipment, and assets.
  • Perform, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs.
  • Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights
