About the role Summer internships run May–September (depending on school schedules) and are full-time, on-site in Mountain View and San Jose, CA. Being a startup with a small team, breadth is extremely important and we expect this person to dive into thermal simulations, test, hardware identification, data analysis, and everything else associated with the full lifecycle of a spacecraft thermal control subsystem. Your contributions will directly shape our programs and success. Responsibilities Take ownership of or contribute to the design, analysis, documentation, and test of spacecraft thermal control subsystem and its components Propose and iterate on improvements for new and existing thermal hardware Write and monitor thermal tests to characterize performance Conduct analysis to support development and testing Qualifications Experience with thermal test and analysis Test planning and execution, creation of slide decks, presentations, Google Sheets Coursework or relevant experience in several of the following: Thermodynamics, Numerical Analysis, Finite Elements, Software Engineering, Project Engineering Portfolio of example thermal design, analysis, integration, test work Nice-to-have Skills Previous internship or co-op experience Previous experience on technical project teams Experience with Thermal Desktop Understanding of physics and orbital mechanics Experience with thermal testing: development testing, component & system-level Salary The hourly wage for this role is $50. Responsibilities

The Mechanical Thermal Engineer will take ownership of or contribute to the design, analysis, documentation, and testing of spacecraft thermal control subsystems and their components. They will also propose and iterate on improvements for new and existing thermal hardware.
