Description
This position supports plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing all facilities and manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to construction, painting, plumbing, welding, and heating/cooling systems, in a safe and orderly manner as directed by the Maintenance Manager. The role adds value to the facility by performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities that improve equipment uptime and reliability, thereby supporting the achievement of production targets and quality objectives. Responsibilities: Mandatory objectives (Applied for all employees and contractor): Implement and comply with Occupational Health Safety & Environment (OHSE) Policy, Quality & Environmental Management System, BSL Policy, Code of Conduct (How We Work), Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) and Government Regulations. Ensure reliable and continuous operation of plant utility mechanical systems through effective execution of maintenance activities. Minimize equipment downtime by performing timely troubleshooting, corrective actions, and preventive maintenance. Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, engineering standards, and plant procedures. Support equipment modification, installation, and small-scale improvement projects to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance, safety enhancement, and cost optimization. Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation and reporting within the CMMS system. Qualification and/or experience required: High School Diploma or equivalent qualification. Understand, practice, and enforce safe work practices related to respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tagout), fire protection systems, electrical safety, forklift/hoist operation, welding, cutting, brazing, confined space entry, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Employee Right-to-Know requirements. Safely perform the physical tasks associated with essential job functions, including extensive climbing, walking, lifting, bending, standing, carrying, and squatting. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, completing objectives efficiently with a strong sense of responsibility. Demonstrate proficiency in machine repair, machine tool operations, pipefitting, and welding. Possess functional knowledge of mechanical components, including valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors, and gearboxes. Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, including Team Leads and Department Managers. Preferred Qualification and/or experience required: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, capable of conducting job-related internet research, and able to learn and utilize e-Maintenance software for daily operations. Ability to perform basic reading and arithmetic calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Willingness and ability to learn shop mathematics, including basic geometry. Ability to operate grinding and milling machines, with experience in fabrication and equipment reconditioning work.
