JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop the design for the installation of communications equipment into vehicles, focused on Mobile Radios, Mobile Data and various Camera Systems predominantly into Emergency Services Vehicles.

  • Design includes the mechanical securing of equipment, cable routing and connections, antenna placement and power connection.
  • The design must consider human factors such as ergonomics, Australian Design Rules (ADR) and OH&S

Design brackets and other mounting systems for the equipment using 3D CAD software (Solidworks)

  • Drive continuous improvement in the installation design process, design documents and installation practices.
  • Own and resolve all issues relating to vehicle installations and the operation (excluding software applications) of equipment within vehicles.
  • Participate in pre offer scoping, costing and preparation of tender responses and request for information relating to vehicle installation designs.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Essential:
Year 12
Desirable:
Mechanical Engineering
Industrial Design Qualifications
Automotive Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in CAD development and 3D modelling, including mechanical strength, stress and strain principles.

Desirable:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in the automotive industry, preferably at an automotive company.
  • Hands on experience with tools, ideally working on vehicles
  • Vehicle related electrical, electronic or radio frequency experience
  • Experience with metal fabrication processes
  • Experience with 3D printed plastic parts
  • Experience conducting FEA analysis
  • Experience using a range of mechanical tools
