Mechanism and Mechatronics Engineer (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Define and analyze technical specifications and develop design concepts for demanding mechanisms and control systems to be operated in space environment
  • Coordinate design, development, integration and testing activities with other engineering disciplines and technical managers (Optics, Mechanical, Structural, Thermal and Electrical Engineering)
  • Be responsible for the flow-down of technical requirements and budgets from higher-level specifications to mechanism or mechatronic subsystems
  • Continuously monitor compliance to technical requirements, budgets and specifications throughout the development process
  • Lead and/or support internal and subcontractor meetings, offers, cost estimates and internal department development projects
  • Take part in planning of manufacturing, assembly and testing (MAIT) of mechanisms and mechatronic systems
  • As a key person of the department, anticipate and, if necessary, find solutions and remedy non-compliant disruptions or unexpected problems in all ongoing development projects of the department
  • Support the definition and specification of interfaces, generate interface control documents
  • Select and specify mechanical and mechatronic components (actuators, sensors, bearings, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain all mechanism specific trade-offs, analysis and simulations (e.g. motorization analysis, tribologic analysis, etc.) as well as mechanism specific documentation
  • Evaluate mechanism test results to ensure proper verification of the unit
  • Evaluate external subcontractor proposals and identify, select and monitor subcontractors as technical responsible.
  • Act throughout the project as engineering single point of contact to the mechanism supplier and the OHB project internal engineering team, with the target to deliver a compliant and verified mechanism subsystem
  • Report concisely to the customer and to the project team

Your Qualifications

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace engineering or comparable qualification
  • Knowledge in the field of mechanisms technologies and tribology with optional expertise in conceptual mechanisms
  • Modelling and simulation (e.g. via Matlab/Simulink or ADAMS)
  • Capability and willingness for technical leadership of internal and external mechanism developments
  • High sense of responsibility, determination and pro-active work attitude
  • Well-structured way of working and systematic thinking
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Very good soft skills, especially communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are a plus
