JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Mechatronics Automation Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced automation systems across axle manufacturing processes. Operating from the company’s headquarters, this role will focus on integrating mechanical, electrical, and software systems to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in manufacturing. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mechatronics, a hands-on approach to problem-solving, and a passion for smart factory technologies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for axle assembly, machining, and inspection lines.
  • Lead integration of PLCs, robotics, sensors, vision systems, and SCADA platforms across multiple plant locations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, quality) to deploy new automation projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing automation systems for performance, uptime, and cycle time improvements.
  • Provide support to product launch teams as needed, contributing technical expertise and process knowledge.
  • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives including IoT integration, predictive maintenance, and data-driven process control.
  • Develop and maintain electrical and controls documentation including schematics, logic diagrams, and software backups.
  • Remain engaged with current manufacturing operations and practices to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Research and develop advanced manufacturing techniques and equipment to increase throughput, reduce scrap/rework, lower costs, enhance quality, and improve process reliability.
  • Partner with prototype teams to validate manufacturing assumptions and assess the feasibility of proposed production methods.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
  • Completed an internship/co-op in an industrial setting, gaining hands-on experience in process improvement, equipment maintenance, or automation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support automation at other facilities.
