Description
Designs, develops, modifies and integrates computer-controlled electronic and mechanical systems for the automation of industrial tasks and enhancement of manufacturing, processing or production equipment. Responsible for assembling components, preparing test plans and supporting testing and validation of products. We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechatronics Engineer focused on system testing and guiding software and hardware engineers to improve designs. The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot special application end effectors on a 6-axis robot. The ideal candidate is organized, thorough, possesses critical analytical skills and leadership skills. Hands-on development and prototyping are essential for success in this role. Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team to design, build, test, and troubleshoot new end effectors for a variety of applications on Lam robotic systems. Design and conduct test experiments to resolve complex technical problems, implementing DOE principles. SW testing: Regression and unit testing Prototype, test, and iterate on mechanical, electrical, and software components to optimize performance and reliability. Create detailed design documentation, including schematics, CAD models, and technical specifications. Generate clear and concise presentations and data-driven reports to communicate engineering solutions and provide clear technical recommendations. Work onsite in a robotics lab 5 days/week. Take strong ownership of assigned tasks and projects, ensuring proper accountability from design to release of solutions. Acquire and apply basic engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical problems (e.g., Eight Disciplines “8D” Problem Solving). Act as a liaison for cross-functional projects across multiple organizations. Engage in robotic path programming and computer vision. Train and lead other engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel. Research and identify emerging technologies and methodologies in mechatronics and robotics. At least a BS in Mechatronics, Robotics, or a similar field. 6-15 years of work experience, depending on the role. Background in Robotics. Creative thinking, strong problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities. Ability to complete projects and learn the required skills with minimal guidance. Solid understanding of statistical process control and basic statistical analysis used in a production setting. Previous experience in individual project management. Experience with robotic hardware design and end effector application development. Proficient in MCAD model creation (Siemens NX, Creo, Solidworks). Knowledge of the following languages and frameworks: Python, SQL, OpenCV, ML platforms such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Experience in engineering project management, PLM tools, and phase gate reviews.
