Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer
Location: Hybrid – Remote and onsite in Charlotte (CLT) and Hickory, NC areas

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This is a hybrid position. Most work can be performed remotely, with occasional travel to plant and vendor sites as needed. Travel may range from one-day trips to up to one week at a time.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on automation/control systems
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Expertise in designing and implementing mechatronic systems
• Hands-on experience with automation technologies: PLC, HMI, SCADA
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
• Solid understanding of feedback control systems (e.g., PID control)
• Sensor integration and data acquisition
• Manufacturing electrical system design and troubleshooting
• Experience with vision systems and image processing
• Embedded systems and microcontroller programming
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Effective communication of technical concepts across disciplines
• Knowledge of automation safety protocols and industry standards
• High attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset

DESIRED SKILLS

• Simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Simulink, LabVIEW)
• Robotics experience (kinematics, dynamics, robot control)
• Programming skills: C, C++, Python, MATLAB
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0, AI/ML in automation and robotics

• Design, develop, and implement mechatronic systems to enhance automation and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand automation requirements and support project planning
• Develop control algorithms and software for automation systems (PLC programming, HMI design)
• Integrate actuators, sensors, control systems, and industrial robotics into automation equipment
• Conduct data analysis, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to meet precision and reliability requirements
• Model systems using engineering principles, run simulations, and analyze data to validate and improve designs
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel on automation systems
• Prepare detailed project documentation, technical reports, and stakeholder presentations
