UPMC Western Maryland is looking for nurses for their Med/Surg units! If you are looking for a fast-paced, exciting career that allows you to experience a variety of different fields, Med/Surg could be for you! UPMC offers a generous sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for graduate nurses and $20,000 for experienced nurses! The following departments qualify for this program:
- Inpatient Rehab - The CIRU is a 13-bed unit with all private rooms, dedicated to providing collaborative rehabilitative services for individuals with physical, functional, swallowing, communication or cognitive impairments.
- 7 South - a 34-bed medical-surgery unit with an average daily census of 21 patients. Ten of the beds are in a wing specifically for oncology patients. 7 South provides high-acuity patient care. The patient focus is primarily respiratory conditions, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeries, chemotherapy, and palliative/comfort care, but a variety of other medical conditions also are treated on this unit.
- 6 West - a 36-bed unit designated for orthopedic, trauma, neurological, medical-surgical patients and 10 private rooms are designated for total knee and hip 10 private rooms are designated for total knee and hip replacement patients
- High Level Care - The High-Level Care Unit is a 28-bed step-down unit with all private rooms. All of the rooms have cardiac in-room monitors to closely monitor patients. High Level Care offers specialty care in trauma, peritoneal dialysis, and cardiac care.
- Observation Unit - The Observation Unit is a 30-bed outpatient unit with 10 private and 10 semi-private rooms. TIf a patient cannot safely be discharged from the Emergency Department and does not meet admission criteria, the patient is placed in Outpatient Observation status on the Observation Unit. Outpatient Observation status on the Observation Unit. Patients with a wide variety of diagnoses receive treatment on the Outpatient Observation unit to rule out such things as myocardial infarction, stroke, syncope and abdominal pain

The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.10 and the minimum for a BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $32.85.
