SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism or a related field.
  • Demonstrated 3+ years experience in a similar media or communications role, ideally within government, transport, infrastructure or other high-profile industries.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and channels.
  • Experience in developing and executing social media strategies and managing digital platforms.
  • Confident working under pressure, managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and judgement in handling sensitive issues and confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

At Yarra Trams, our mission is to deliver world-class transport services to our passengers. In this role, you will contribute to this goal by:

  • Protecting and enhancing the reputation of the organisation by developing and delivering clear, timely and engaging communications across internal and external channels
  • Supporting media relations, crisis communication, content development, and leading the delivery of the organisation’s social media strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build relationships across the business to source engaging stories that align with Yarra Trams’ culture and business objectives. Includes researching, production (copy, and video/photography) and posting compelling stories for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the organisation’s social media strategy across all platforms. Analyse social media metrics to refine content strategies and report on performance.
  • Work with subject matter experts from across the business to develop clear and compelling conference presentations and award submissions.
  • Support the proactive and reactive media engagement, including drafting media releases, briefing notes, talking points, Q&As, and responses to media enquiries
  • Supporting the Principal Advisor, Media and Communications to draft media releases, briefing notes, talking points, Q&As, and responses to media enquiries.
