Responsibilities
The Media Monitoring Coordinator sits within the Comms Insights team, part of the Global Brand & Communications Operations department. Comms Insights equips our stakeholders with real-time insights into the press landscape and provides data-driven research to determine comms strategies. The Media Monitoring Coordinator is at the front lines of monitoring media interest in TikTok. This role is part of the Rapid Response team that is responsible for quickly and accurately flagging press inquiries to the Global Comms staff, ensuring the department is never caught off guard by critical media inquiries or reputational issues, and for closely monitoring media coverage to keep the department and company apprised of relevant news items in near real-time. The coordinator also supports the Comms Insights team’s data-driven work including coverage reports, monitoring internal dashboards, and social listening. Our work parallels the news cycles surrounding TikTok and the industry: we move fast and cover a wide range of issues. Roles and Responsibilities - Realtime monitoring of global press inboxes to ensure media inquiries are relayed to the appropriate PR handler, and handled in a timely manner. Manage high volume of inbound emails to organize information, distribute to relevant departments, manage spam, etc. - Operate on a shift schedule with fixed hours for Rapid Response inbox & coverage monitoring during business hours. Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend coverage will be required (with advance notice) - Maintain spreadsheets that track inbound media inquiries and resulting press coverage - Actively track and distribute TikTok and industry news throughout the day to ensure the Global Comms team and XFN partners are aware of the latest media cycles - Create coverage reports analyzing the size, impact, and themes of company or industry news - Monitor and measure social media discussion about the company, industry, or relevant themes - Review and summarize TikTok videos to determine trending and noteworthy content - Build weekly, monthly, and ad hoc internal newsletters - Support team operations by keeping project trackers and report archives organized and up-to-date - Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend coverage will be required (with advance notice)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Familiarity with Comms or PR - Understanding of global news media - Excellent written, verbal and communication skills - Excellent project management and operations skills with very close attention to detail - Ability to regularly sort, prioritize, and identify urgent tasks, directing them to the appropriate responder while working independently and efficiently - Flexibility and willingness to support various projects as needed across the wider team, often on short notice - Able to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism required Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with using spreadsheets for data entry and chart-building - Familiarity with media monitoring or social listening tools such as Cision, MuckRack, Brandwatch, etc - Experience working in a fast-paced environment
