The individual develops proactive content about Emory Healthcare, with a focus on innovation, clinical advances, research findings and inspiring stories from the patient perspective. The role will also assist with uploading and organizing materials in a new content digital assets management system. The ideal candidate has a strong background in writing and editing skills and/or experience working in media relations/public relations/communications/journalism or another similar role. RESPONSIBILITIES: Write and distribute press releases, pitches, media advisories and other content to media. Collect and craft proactive elements for stories and content that support Emory Healthcare’s mission, vision and goals. Coordinate and supervise on-site media and production shoots—including interviews, b-roll and photography—to ensure minimal disruption to clinical activities. Operational Excellence: Develop process, oversee and creatively organize important media relations assets and documentation into a secure digital assets management storage system. Educate and train team members to access and use the new secure digital assets management storage system. Frequently monitor local, regional and national news media content, news cycles and health care trends. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with marketing, internal communications and other departments to ensure that media relations content is consistent with the overall Emory Healthcare brand. Assist team members in planning and executing large-scale media relations events and activities. Maintain open and effective communication with all stakeholders, both internally and externally. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors degree in a marketing/communications discipline, such as journalism, mass communications, English, public relations, marketing, political science or a related field. Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience working in journalism, communications, marketing, media relations, public relations or crisis management. The ideal candidate has a strong background in writing and editing skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 20-50 lbs.; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs., 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs., 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
