POSITION SUMMARY

As the Volunteer Media Partnerships Coordinator, you’ll be the primary liaison between the festival and various media channels—television, radio, print, and online. By crafting compelling pitches and sponsorship packages, you’ll help elevate the festival’s profile, attract new audiences, and reinforce our mission of cultural inclusivity.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Media or PR Experience: Familiarity with media outlets and an understanding of how to pitch stories effectively.
  • Strong Communication: Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills to liaise with reporters, editors, and producers.
  • Negotiation & Sales Savvy: Ability to create appealing sponsorship packages and negotiate terms that benefit both parties.
  • Organizational Skills: Capable of juggling multiple partnerships, tracking deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Cultural Appreciation: Passionate about diversity, inclusivity, and the power of community events.
  • Collaboration: Able to work with marketing, logistics, and other volunteer teams to coordinate media coverage seamlessly.

Responsibilities:

  • Media Outreach & Relationship Building
  • Identify and initiate contact with TV stations, radio networks, newspapers, online platforms, and community-focused publications.
  • Maintain ongoing communications to keep media partners engaged and informed about festival updates.
  • Sponsorship & Partnership Negotiation
  • Develop media sponsorship proposals, outlining benefits such as exclusive coverage, brand visibility, and on-site activations.
  • Negotiate contracts, timelines, and deliverables to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Press Materials & Coordination
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create press releases, media kits, and promotional assets that appeal to media outlets.
  • Coordinate press conferences or media previews, arranging interviews and photo-ops where needed.
  • On-Site Media Management
  • Assist visiting media teams during the festival, guiding them to key attractions, VIP areas, or interview opportunities.
  • Ensure that all media sponsors’ branding or agreed-upon placements are properly executed.
  • Reporting & Post-Event Follow-Up
  • Track and document media coverage, compiling mentions, articles, or broadcast segments.
  • Gather feedback from media partners, express thanks, and explore relationships for future events.
