SUMMARY

We are seeking two Mediator to join our team at Threshold DAS. In this role, you will play a vital part in assisting individuals and organisations in resolving disputes through effective mediation techniques. Your contributions will be essential in promoting harmony and understanding within the community.
You will be working within the Homlessness Team and will be working with individuals in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion some in person some on TEAMS.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in mediation or conflict resolution is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to remain neutral and objective while facilitating discussions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on finding mutually beneficial solutions.
  • A background in law, psychology, or social work may be advantageous.

    The Mediator will be a key member of the team reporting directly to the Regional Manager and will be responsible for the delivery of mediation services across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
    An exciting opportunity exists for a Housing Mediation Officer. Flexible location within Carmarthenshire or Ceredigion.
    You will be required to assess conflict situations across tenures throughout Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and will work directly with individuals undertaking home visits as required to identify the most appropriate method of intervention to resolve or manage the conflict. You will be involved in providing practical support to those affected by Domestic Abuse and Anti-Social Behaviour, therefore knowledge of current ASB legislation is desirable.
    Assess and analyse conflict (complex) situations across all tenures throughout Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, including problems or information concerning homelessness as a result of conflict within the family home. Undertake appropriate liaison with other organisations where required, identifying the most appropriate method of intervention to resolve or manage the conflict and provide practical support to all tenants affected by antisocial behaviour
    This post will require working irregular and unsocial hours, which may include weekends
    There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
    · Facilitate negotiation and settlement between disputing parties by providing direction and encouragement, working collaboratively with parties, and finding creative ways to reach a mutual solution.
    · Provide advice to service users and make referrals to other agencies and organisations where appropriate.
    · Work cooperatively with partner agencies and organisations in tackling homelessness and threats of homelessness because of domestic abuse antisocial behaviour and dispute resolution.
    · Guide and advise Assistant Housing Officers and Early Intervention Officers, checking work as appropriate.
    · Maintain case files and statistical/other relevant information on antisocial behaviour incidents.
    · Provide practical support to people experiencing antisocial behaviour across all tenures
    · Attend tenant and community safety meetings as required.
    · Input into the development of the Housing team strategy and policy
    · Update and maintain records, files, and databases in line with records management standards
    · To undertake safety focussed work with partners and ex-partners of those experiencing homelessness or who are at threat of homelessness.
    · Screening of all referrals to determine which cases are appropriate for mediation.
    · Provide shuttle mediation, online or telephone mediation when appropriate.
    · Provide mediation on a 1: 1 basis and where appropriate, as a family, or to a young person and their parents, to stop that young person from leaving home.
    · To work with women and men leaving the prison system.
