As a Medical Access Assistant (MAA) Specialist, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients within the California Medical Provider Network (MPN). You’ll help injured workers locate physicians, schedule appointments, coordinate communication, and ensure seamless access to care. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills and an interest in healthcare operations. What You’ll Do Locate and confirm participating MPN providers who accept Workers’ Compensation patients. Schedule physician appointments, including sending required paperwork, confirming appointment details, and communicating information back to the requesting party. Respond to calls, faxes, and messages within 24 hours, documenting and resolving referrals within 72 business hours. Work directly with the Director of Customer Relations to ensure clear and consistent communication throughout the patient access process. Update provider demographics as needed and notify the Customer Relations Department when providers no longer accept Workers’ Compensation patients. Requirements What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of customer service experience (healthcare preferred), OR Associate’s degree in Business or related field and one (1) year of customer service experience (healthcare preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Competencies Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills. Friendly, professional, and customer-focused demeanor. Strong verbal and written communication skills across Clients, Providers, Peers, and Management. Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to maintain confidential information.
