Evolve Allied Health has an opportunity for a positive, driven and organized individual to join our quickly growing team as a Medical Administrative Assistant. We are a group of 35+ family physicians, working out of our Lake Country and Kelowna locations; offering a combination of Family Practice, Women’s Health, Internal Medicine, Dermatology and Walk-In services.
We have full-time Medical Administrative Assistant position available at two of our Medical Clinic location, Lake Country BC and Kelowna BC. As a member of our medical support team, you will be working alongside our amazing team of Medical Office Assistants, Medical Administrative Assistant, Nurses and Physicians in providing the best patient experience possible.
As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will be the ‘face’ of our organization and will demonstrate a high level of patience and empathy for the needs of our patients. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Medical Administrative Assistant works collaboratively with all staff, and physicians in support of patient care. The MAA supports the clinic by performing a variety of clerical, administrative and clinical tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade12 or equivalent
  • Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA) experience required; relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience working in a private primary care setting is an asset
  • Current CPR C with AED certification
  • Current Criminal Record Check within last 6 months
  • Experience with Oscar, MedAccess, Telus CHR EMR would be beneficial and asset.

Responsibilities
  • Greeting and acknowledging all patients and visitors in the medical home to determine the purpose of their visit
  • Check in patients for their appointments using the EMR to ensure good patient flow
  • Update patient demographics (name, address, contact info, family physician, PHN validation, etc.)
  • Booking coordination, answering incoming calls and processing patient inquiries accordingly, within scope of practice (book appointments, direct to appropriate staff members, when necessary, etc.), triage or action based on the nature of the call
  • Outgoing calls to patients and complete patient outreach when appropriate
  • Administrative/other duties that include but not limited to: scanning, electronic filing, processing incoming and outgoing faxes, linking documents, answering email/EMR messages, maintaining EMR records.
  • Processing referrals and follow up verifying receipt of referral
  • Triage and/or completion of generally assigned tasks within the EMR
  • Maintain, protect, and comply with privacy and confidentiality for all patients, staff and physicians according to Patient Information to Privacy Act.
  • Clinic autoclaving and reprocessing of equipment as per BC Best Practices for Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization for Critical and Semi-Critical Medical Devices
  • Awareness and adherence to Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned within scope of practice
  • Performs receptionist functions as required
