Job Description

Your role:

Under the supervision of the manager, the Medical Advisor (MA) in the Rare Disease (LSD) area has two areas of responsibility.

  • KOL engagement - face to face or virtual
  • Project-related work

As an indication and product expert, the Medical Advisor plays a key role in developing and implementing the (inter)national medical strategy as part of the integrated product strategy. Medical Advisors are crucial in ensuring that innovative therapies receive approval in Germany and that patients benefit from them.

Through interaction with external stakeholders, such as key opinion leaders, and market insights, you derive trends and needs of patients and healthcare professionals. You then bring these insights into the company, use them to develop new treatment options, and derive studies, including scientific publications, or other projects from them.

The Medical Advisors play a key role in shaping the cross-functional strategy in Germany. The well-being of the patients guides their actions.

Your tasks:

Key Opinion Leader Engagement

  • Strategic implementation of external expert engagement in the rare disease field
  • Continuously gathering strategically relevant scientific information and sharing it with cross-functional teams.
  • Identifying potential study centers and responding to unsolicited inquiries from HCPs for IISRs
  • Communication on behalf of patient services, close collaboration and need assessments

Project-related work

  • Conducting regular training sessions on disease patterns, unmet needs, and new developments in the indication area for internal cross-functional functions
  • Participation in cross-functional projects within the German organization as well as in cooperation with other country organizations.
  • Independent organization and moderation of advisory boards, including selection of suitable experts.
  • Planning, organization and implementation of medical training programs
  • Participation in the creation and implementation of medical plans
  • Pharmaceutical and compliance-standard-compliant creation and review of promotional material
  • Support in the area of ​​study activities (clinical studies up to the RWE survey)
  • Collection and identification of specific information about new or future therapeutic areas (Key Opinion Leader (KOL) mapping, relevant networks, societies, patient representatives and other interest groups)
  • Collaboration with the cross-functional brand team
  • Design of customer journeys using a suitable mix of omnichannel tools for customer contact
  • Conception and implementation of communication and publication plans in medicine, strategically coordinated with the brand plan
  • Identification and communication of medically relevant trends and developments that contribute to strategy and business development
  • Use insights to make data-driven decisions and to plan and control activities.

Skills and competencies:

  • Completed studies in medicine, pharmacy or natural sciences, ideally with a doctorate
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the field of Medical Affairs in the area of ​​Rare Disease.
  • Proven ability for cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Very good understanding of clinical developments and studies
  • Very good understanding of omnichannel engagement, including all available channels and their integration into the customer journey.
  • Experience in conducting events with external opinion leaders
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical development, legislation and marketing (code)
  • Experience in creating medical plans and budget responsibility
  • Experience in planning, organizing and executing projects and generating local evidence
  • Successful support of new therapies up to launch
  • Experience in training employees and conducting medical training courses
  • Proficient in MS Office and possessing excellent project management skills.
  • Agility, teamwork skills, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Flexible time management and willingness to travel
  • Fluent German and very good English skills, both spoken and written.

Base Salary Range:

€90,800.00 - €124,850.00
