Hawaii Island Community Health Center Medical Assistant 1 Location- Keaau-Pahoa Pay Rate-$19.50-$29.25 (Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience) About the Role: Under the supervision of the MA Supervisor and direction of the DON and Nurse Manager, the Medical Assistant supports patient care through clinical, laboratory, technical, and administrative tasks for providers at HICHC. Minimum Qualifications: * Required-High school diploma or equivalent * Required-Six months related experience is required; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources or Nurse Manager * Preferred-Graduation from a technical school with appropriate degree and/or certification such as Nurse Assistant/Aide program * Preferred-Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred. Responsibilities: *  Interviews and conducts preliminary assessment of patients to determine reasons for visit, obtains health history and checks pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, vision and hearing as needed and records data on patient chart. * Assists clinicians in therapeutic procedures such as exams and minor surgeries, wound care, and nebulizer treatments. * Cleans and prepares equipment and examination rooms for patients and cleans rooms after each encounter and as needed. Cleans, maintains and stocks nurse’s stations, exam rooms, pharmacy and laboratory. Sterilizes, cleans, wraps and labels instruments consistent with autoclave protocols Skills: This role requires basic knowledge of clinical intake and lab procedures, proficiency with office equipment, multitasking skills, the ability to follow provider instructions, and initiative in resolving patient concerns.
