About the Role: The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy. The Medical Assistant is responsible for managing medical instruments and ensuring proper sterilization to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Additionally, this role includes specimen processing and accurate documentation to support diagnostic and treatment processes. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team. Minimum Qualifications: * Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. * Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred. * Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen processing. * Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures. * Strong communication skills and ability to manage front-office tasks such as answering phones. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working alongside nurse practitioners or in a similar clinical setting. * Additional certifications in phlebotomy or EKG administration. * Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. * Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations. * Prior experience in a fast-paced medical office environment. Responsibilities: * Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse. * Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during patient examinations and minor procedures. * Perform phlebotomy duties by drawing blood samples and properly labeling and processing specimens for laboratory analysis. * Manage and sterilize medical instruments and equipment to comply with infection control standards. * Answer phones, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries to facilitate effective communication within the medical office. Skills: The required skills are utilized daily to ensure comprehensive patient care and efficient clinical operations. Medical Assisting skills enable the candidate to competently prepare patients and assist providers during examinations. Expertise with medical instruments and sterilization ensures a safe environment and compliance with health regulations. Phlebotomy and specimen processing skills are critical for accurate diagnostic testing and timely lab results. Additionally, strong communication skills, including answering phones and coordinating appointments, support seamless patient flow and effective office management.
