ATLANTICARE _____________________________________________ROLE DESCRIPTION TITLE: Medical Assistant Apprentice   JOB CODE: 1401A   EXEMPT:   NON-EXEMPT: X DATE:  REVISED:           POSITION SUMMARY   The Medical Assistant Apprentice is responsible for providing assigned patient care duties according to the Medical Assistant Program Curriculum. The Medical Assistant Program Curriculum will start January 2026. Must attend Info Session prior to selection.    The Medical Assistant Apprentice abides by the daily and weekly assigned classroom/related technical instruction and clinical tasks in preparation for certification. Tasks may include patient interviews, collection of specimens, assist the provider with patient exams and procedures, general patient interaction, and provide patient education. The Medical Assistant Apprentice practices under the supervision of the preceptor and Ambulatory Quality Department.     This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.       QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.       LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLSHCP certified within six months of hire or transfer.     EXPERIENCE:  None required, experience in medical field preferred.   MISC: Required to travel to different locations for class and onsite field experience.     PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.   WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the medical office environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing and walking. This position also requires long periods of telephone work.  This position frequently lifts 25-50 lbs and occasionally lifts 50-100 lbs. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.   REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to department leadership as assigned.
