Description The Medical Assistant (MA) is a part of the Clinical Support Staff who's primary role is to support the providers in delivering high-quality rheumatologic care. The duties and responsibilities of the MA include but are not limited to rooming patients for office visits, obtaining and documenting patient vital signs, reviewing and reconciling patients medical history, medications, and allergies. Preparing the patient room for any procedure that may be performed by the provider, such as a joint injection or aspiration. Maintenance of the treatment rooms to ensure cleanliness and adequate stock is readily available. The MA is also responsible for administrative duties that include accurate and up-to-date maintenance of patient medical records. Preparing patient information for upcoming visits such as obtaining necessary lab results, diagnostic reports, and any outside medical records that are needed. Communicate with patients via telephone and patient portal in a timely and professional manner as well as assist with any coordination of care and follow-up as needed. Requirements Medical Assistant Certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Experience in a Medical Office setting Experience with EHR's (NextGen is a plus) Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality
