Description Are you a highly motivated and experienced Medical Assistant who thrives in providing exceptional care? We are seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant to provide essential support with emphasis on administrative duties to our physician and patients. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to patient care with excellent communication skills. The position is for a day staff function to cover the daytime operations of a pulmonary and sleep clinic which is open during normal business hours. We're looking for someone who thrives on teamwork, enjoys contributing to a positive patient experience, and takes initiative in problem-solving. This is a position with an emphasis on administrative duties with significant patient contact. Responsibilities: Patient Care: Pre-visit planning including but not limited to prior authorizations, insurance verifications, scheduling, payment collections, completion of pre-visit forms and or other paperwork as deemed necessary. Appointment confirmations Phone triage (portal, phone calls, voice mails etc) Taking vital signs, setting up home sleep studies, and other minor procedures as directed by physician Educate patients on post-appointment care and follow-up appointments Other duties as assigned by the lead MA Clinical Support: Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment Manage patient flow, and exam room preparation Manage medical supplies, inventory, stocking rooms Complete paperwork and other duties as assigned Administrative Duties: Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records and patient messages Handling and managing patient referrals into the practice, and outbound Handle insurance authorizations, prior authorizations, and follow through Submit billing, and collections Assist with data entry, scanning, and other administrative tasks as needed Requirements Required Qualifications: Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures Knowledge of Sleep Center and/or pulmonary procedures is a plus In-depth understanding of referral authorizations process and requirements Understanding of billing and collections Superb organization and time management skills Ability to work independently as well as having a team spirit Strong communication and customer service skills is a must Ability to work in a fast paced environment Flexible schedule for per diem coverage CPR certification Preferred Qualifications: Certified Medical Assistant certification Experience in sleep/pulmonary medicine Prior experience as a Medical Assistant Bilingual (Spanish) Compensation will be based on experience Pay Range: $21.00-$28/Hour*Employees' actual pay rate will depend on a host of factors including, without limitation, job location, specialty, skillset, education, and experience. The pay scale/ranges shown are representative of the pay rates for the job title reflected above, but actual rate will be determined on an individual basis
