Location: Puyallup Tribal Health Authority | Tacoma, WA | On-Site Schedule: Full-Time | Mon – Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Hiring Range: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour Position Close Date: April 2, 2026 Join a care team dedicated to whole-person health, where your skills as a Medical Assistant support both physical and behavioral health services in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. In this unique role at the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA), you’ll go beyond traditional Medical Assistant duties. You'll work closely with family medicine and behavioral health providers to ensure patients feel supported, respected, and cared for in a safe and welcoming environment. What You’ll Do: Preparing patients for exams and treatments Collecting patient histories, vital signs, and performing diagnostics (ECGs, vision tests, audiograms, etc.) Administering immunizations and medications as directed Assist behavioral health providers with evaluations, follow-ups, medication management, and patient education; administer and score assessments; provide a compassionate presence during visits. Performing lab work, phlebotomy, and limited x-rays (with proper certification) Managing exam room cleanliness and supply readiness Supporting front-desk tasks like appointment scheduling, phone calls, and medical record upkeep Collaborating on patient flow and providing friendly, efficient service Train and mentor new Medical Assistants or students What You Bring: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program Current WA State Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C) At least (2) years of Medical Assistant experience with patients of all ages Behavioral health experience preferred Familiarity with Electronic Health Records Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate sensitive or emotional situations with professionalism and care BLS certification Why PTHA?
