Description Brattleboro Memorial Hospital / Southern Vermont Health Services Corporation Job Description Job Title: Medical Assistant Job Code: 610 Hours: Mon- Fri 8:00am-5:00pm Weekend Schedule: N/A Holiday Schedule: N/A Call Schedule: N/A FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department Name: Physician Support Location: Brattleboro, Vermont JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant (MA) functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician/NP/PA/CMN and reports to the practice manager. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care, communicate effectively with others, maintain an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, work with the healthcare team to assure smooth and efficient patient flow, and organize the office environment to assure patient safety. DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE: The BMH Physician Group practices provide medical services in various specialties and offices including pediatrics, ob/gyn, cardiology, orthopedics, internal medicine, family practice, ENT, urology and general surgery. The practices are staffed by physicians and other licensed providers who are supported by clinical staff (LPNs or medical assistants) and clerical staff. Hours vary by practice.
Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed providers and ensures efficient patient flow. They are also responsible for maintaining examination room supplies and organizing the office environment for patient safety.
