Description Position Summary: The medical assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties to support healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, recording patient history, and managing medical records. Position Responsibilities: Clinical duties Taking and recording patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate. Measuring and recording patient medical history and personal information. Administering medications. Administrative duties Scheduling patient appointments and managing the check-in/check-out process. Maintaining and updating patient medical records and electronic health records (EHR) into homeless management information system (HMIS). Handling phone calls and responding to patient inquiries. Maintaining inventory and ordering medical supplies. Preparing patient charts and completing paperwork. Requirements Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training course at a vocational/technical school. Proof and maintenance of active RMA or CMA throughout employment required. Minimum of one-year work experience, preferred. Must have and maintain BLS certification. At least 1 year experience with crises intervention, medical assistance, and/or homelessness services preferred Skills and Qualifications: Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills Excellent customer service skills and maintenance of confidentiality Strong professionalism and mission driven attitude Ability to uphold safety regulations Compassionate and open-minded Commitment to practicing the values of dignity and respect with clients, coworkers, and community partners Ability to remain focused and calm in dynamic, fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and utilize initiative Cooperative and flexible with people and systems Must uphold the Kearney Center’s ethics and code of conduct at all times Demonstrated proficiency with computers and standard office equipment: Windows, MS Office, and email Work Environment: Frequent standing and walking through indoor environment. Ability to utilize general office equipment. This position requires the working ability to carry 50lbs.
