Description We're growing! Denver Wellness is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The MA will play a crucial role in managing prescription refill and prior authorization requests, delivering exceptional customer service, collaborating with healthcare professionals, providing direct patient care, and contributing to the overall success of Denver Wellness Associates. The role will primarily be to address the various avenues of incoming prescription refill and prior authorization requests for patients, scheduling appointments, addressing patient balances as applicable, interacting with the patients during their treatments, and ensuring a safe administration of treatment as well as consistent patient experience. This role will act as an extension of the provider team, working closely with providers as well as the administrative staff. $19-$23/hour Medical Assistant Responsibilities: This Medical Assistant role is primarily to serve as an in-office medication refill specialist in addition to supporting treatment coverage as needed in the office. Training will be provided by the clinical team. Included in this role will be: Processing prescription refill requests in real-time from patients and pharmacies via incoming calls, emails, website requests, and electronic prescription refill transmission within the EHR Processing prescription prior authorizations and submitting them to patient’s insurance for review and approval Following established prescription refills protocols to ensure patient safety and medication refill accuracy is maintained at the highest level Maintaining accurate documentation of all prescription refill interactions and requests, ensuring proper details are documented in the EHR Communication to patients that an appointment is need for future refills per the prescription refill protocol in addition to scheduling patients for appointments Notifying patients of high balances and collecting payment according to office policies prior to providing further refills Communication with patients regarding the status of their prescription refills or prior authorizations Communication with providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies to support patients in receiving their medication in a timely manner Understanding of insurance benefits, take patient payments, verify benefits, and support the billing team in gathering the information needed Working collaboratively with the administrative and billing team to ensure all requirements of the procedures are fully met Clerical duties such as patient check-in and checkout, record processing as requested, data verification, and interdisciplinary communication on the patient experience Administration, monitoring, and documentation of the Service Line treatments to include Transcranial Magnetic Therapy (TMS), Spravato, Ketamine, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, cooperative, sensitive, respectful and kind with all patients, visitors, the public and all colleagues Attends staff meetings as required Maintains certifications per state guidelines Performs duties to achieve or exceed established service standards Requirements Medical Assistant Qualifications: Current and valid MA license in the state of Colorado. Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program. Minimum of one year of experience working in the medical field Knowledge of TMS and/or Spravato would be an asset Experience with prescription refill and prior authorization management Billing experience CPR certification. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Clinic or office experience preferred EMR knowledge Excel and/or strong computer skills
